Belle & Sebastian vs Northern Soul Special on Thursday 2 Sept.

Yeah ok, so we may have over done it with this Thursdays theme but since we always fancied the lines "I could dance all night like I'm a soul boy / But I know I'd rather drag myself across the dance floor" from the song There's Too Much Love by Belle & Sebastian and since indieclubs tend to play a lot of soul (why is that?) we thought "oh why not go all out this time".

Joining us we have two very special and old school northern DJ's: Sebban and Jonas. Sebban used to do The Gabb with Marcus Cawood, who's now our partner in crime at Retro with his new club Flipside. The Gabb was the place to be at in Malmö if you were a mod or just a soul or psych fan. We remember many fond nights with queues outside the venue before the night even started and then the always great handmade decorations taking you straight into a Quadrophenic mood. We're happy to drag Sebban from the Pickwick Pubs beer garden to play some great records. Jonas has straight A's in doing Northern Soul clubs in Malmö. With Cellar Soul Club, Club Understanding and now Function him and his fellow DJ's have put Malmö on the Northern Soul map with booking famous and geeky international DJ's and putting on nights that have had club goers doing back flips long into the early hours.

The So Tough So Cute Sound System (STSCSS) will be providing the Belle & Sebastian tunes alongside other indiepop while the to gentlemen will put on stomper after stomper and by the end of the night we should have a winner.

Please note that this night is at the new venue Rex

How Does It Feel To Be Pure At Heart?

Oh boy do we have some treats for you this week! We have, not one, but two awesome parties with, not one, but two awesome sets of guest-DJs! So excited!

The DJ for our night on Thursday is our friend Ian Watson of How Does It Feel To Be Loved? in London. Weather the club is in the deep dirty south in Brixton or in Central London it's always an amazing night out with all boys and girls dressed up to their teeth in polkadot dresses and button down (Though seldom at the same time). Ian has visited Malmö twice before and it's always been a packed fun filled night and we've had equally fun times when having had the honour to play his night. Ian plays a great mix of sixties tunes and new and classic indiepop and if you've missed HDIF he's together a podcast you can have a listen to. Fun!

On Saturday we're very happy to have The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart gang playing records after their gig at Malmöfestivalen. The Pains have since their debut become one of the most loved and celebrated noise pop bands. And with good reason, as their specially roasted New York City blend of Buzzcocks, Field Mice and My Bloody Valentine has been as exciting on record as it has been on gigs. We've been curious as to what makes them tick so we've invited them to play records at So Tough! So Cute! for the official after-after party!

23-03 | 30kr before midnight then 60kr | Facebook event

Saturday 21 August
