Guest Mixtape 20: A So Tough! So Cute! Mix by Stephanie Goodman (Shrag, Blue Minkies, club Born Bad)

So Tough! So Cute! mixtape drawn by Stephanie Goodman
So we heard this song Kitten Boy by the Blue Minkies. And we heard it was good. So we bought the single. We took a picture of it. Used some cool filter on it. Put it on Facebook. And people saw it was good. Then we had a cup of tea. Some time went by. Then we found, what we thought was, a demo cassette by the Blue Minkies. And we heard it was good. Then we had multiple cups of tea.

Here we would like to mention that we actually drink coffee (Kenyan or Guatemalan thank you) but if we kept mentioning coffee as many times as tea you would think we are this very tweaked and twitchy person.

Anyway.

Then we did a vague reference to Kitten Boy and our friend Stephanie from Shrag said '!'. Then it hit us like a ton of bricks and we realised; Hey, Stephanie was in the Blue Minkies!'

So then we asked her to kindly put together a mixtape for us as we love Shrag and Blue Minkies and thoroughly enjoyed her selection of tunes when she and Helen played records at How Does It Feel To be Loved. And she did! Yay!

The Blue Minkies are no more and Shrag are sadly calling it a day but Stephanie is already looking upwards and onwards and has already two new project going on: Summer Hunter, who are opening for Wolfhounds on February 15th in london and a soon to be released solo project, British Teeth.

And you can always catch her behind the decks of Brightons club night Born Bad of which she is a co-founder. It's the third Friday of every month at the Komedia.

Best of all, Stephanie has started uploading old Blue Minkies and other solo stuff up on her YouTube channel including this great shouty number recorded together with Helen of Shrag and Kathy of the Thermals!
